Bats In Austin
While traveling around the country on a mobile marketing tour, I was fortunate enough to stay for a night in Austin, Texas. Austin is the sate capital and home to the University of Texas. Due to the large student population, there is a great night life on sixth street with great music for all tastes and styles. I am not a big fan of bars usually, but if you are in Austin, you should go check out sixth street at least for the music if nothing else.
When we were looking for things to do in Austin, we heard that there would be a bunch of bats coming out from under the Congress Street Bridge just before sunset. We were thinking it would be cool to see a couple hundred or maybe a thousand bats flying toward Mexico at dusk, so we headed over to check it out. Little did we know we were in for quite a surprise! For fifteen minutes we watched as hundreds of thousands if not millions of bats flowed like a never ending loop out from under the bridge. It was one of the most amazing things I have seen in my life and one of the things that impressed me the most is that it takes place every night in the middle of one of the biggest cities in Texas!
See it big here.
